FAQ

Do you take commissions?

I'm happy to take on commissions of my standard line of wares. If you're looking to order multiples of the same item or sets of pieces please get in touch through the contact page. I am able to offer any of my standard collection in a range of glazes.

Please note that I am unable to accommodate orders of one-of-a-kind or personalized items or custom glazes at this time.

Orders are accepted on a case by case basis dependent on size and timeline. Generally larger orders take a minimum of 8-10 weeks before shipping. Timelines are adjusted due to the time of year, in regards to markets or the holiday season, as well as what other orders or lead-times that take precedent.

I am open to discussing working collaboratively for unique wholesale designs or collaborations with brands and/or restaurants. These projects have a minimum spend of $500 CAD and require a significant time commitment to meet and discuss the vision. Please send your proposals or inquiries to pitonpottery@gmail.com and I will send you back contract information and be able to give you more information.

Do you do wholesale?

Yes, I offer my standard line of wares to wholesalers. Wholesale orders take a minimum of 8-10 weeks before shipping. I accept new accounts on a case-by-case basis, please send an email to pitonpottery@gmail.com stating your interest in a wholesale partnership and I can get back to you with more detailed information.

How should I care for my handmade ceramics?

We advise that hand-washing is considered best practice even though all wares are stated to be dishwasher and microwave safe. Thermal-shock is the largest concern for handmade ceramics and should be taken into consideration for their daily use. To avoid thermal shock refrain from exposing your wares to extreme temperature changes like freezing and/or boiling. If stoneware is used in the oven make sure to preheat the oven with the wares inside and avoid rapid cooling. Do not use wares over an open flame or barbeque.

In the use of tableware, silverware or flatware can leave deposits on the surface of the ceramic tableware. These deposits come from the silverware in what look like scratches. These deposits can be easily removed with a scrubber and mixture of baking soda.

Do you teach classes?

Not at this time. Unfortunately, my studio set up at this time is only suitable for my production practice. In the future,  I hope to hold classes and workshops so sign up for my newsletter if you'd like to be notified when classes may become offered.

Are you pieces food-safe?

Yes, the majority of my works are made from medium temperature stoneware, commercial clay sourced in western Canada. The stoneware is fired to cone 6 in electric oxidation. All glazes are long standing recipes that are stable and lead-free, heavy metal oxide-free, and food safe unless otherwise stated on their product page.

Where can I buy your work?

My online shop is launched once per season and products are shoppable online. If you'd like to be notified when a launch is coming up sign up for my newsletter and check out my Shop Updates page.
